Twinkle in My Eye

November 30, 2008

Let’s face it, trying to get your eyes to look like twinkling snowflakes with glitter eyeshadow only ends up making your eyelids look like disco balls. But, for whatever reason, we ladies still continue to try to find a way to paste on the glitter. So, how can we get it to look fantastic and not have it fall into our eyes and faces?

There are many eye shadows out there that have glitter in them. Mack has jars of eyeshadow glitter that many have used to get that sparkling effect. The problem with these jars of glitz is that the glitter from your eyes easily falls all over your face because the it does not have anything that really holds it together. The glitter also falls into the eyes, which can really irritate the them.

There are glitter shadows that come in gel form that helps to keep the glitter in place better than just the loose shadow. However, the same problems still occur, though more gradually. Eventually, at the end of the day, you may find that the glitter has fallen on your face and perhaps even feel it begin to irritate you eyes.

So, a way to get the shimmery effect and not have to deal with all these problems is to use a matte shadow that has a shimmer in it. The matte material helps the shadow stay in place and holds the sparkle on just the lids as opposed to the entire face. This is great because it allows you to have that glitzy look, but without the problems regular loose glitter causes.

This matte shimmer is easy to apply, as well. Use either your finger or a brush to put the eye shadow on, and apply as much as you feel is suitable for the look you desire. Just to make sure that no glitter falls on your face, use a makeup sponge or brush to quickly sweep off any fallen shadow. The great thing about this shadow is that if it does fall on your face, it is very easy to brush away, unlike many other glitter shadows.

Glitter is fun and can allow you to bring out your creative side. So, go ahead and show off that sparkling personality!
